Timers FAQ

Frequently asked questions and answers for Timers - Industrial Automation

Timer: Power is Interrupted

Question

What will happen to the H5S, H5F, or H5L Time Switches if power is interrupted?

Answer

If power is interrupted to the H5S, H5F, or H5L Time Switch, the output will turn OFF and the display will go black.

The present clock time and program contents, however, will be saved.

Example: Power interruption compensation for the H5S Electrical Time Switch.

Lithium battery:

Continuous operation: 5 years min. (at 25°C)

10 years min. (at 25°C, power interruption ratio of 50% max.: Total time that power is stopped.)

Description

The H5S uses a lithium battery for memory backup for power interruptions.

At an ambient temperature of 25°C, the present clock data and setting contents will be saved for a total power interruption time of 5 years max.

"10 years min. (power interruption ratio of 50%)" means a total of 10 years comprised of 5 years total power ON time and 5 years total power interruption time. (Battery power is not consumed while power is being applied.)

Note: When the H5S is used, the output will not operate and the display will not be shown during power interruptions.

The power interruption compensation function saves the internal clock data and settings only, so the output circuit remains OFF.

Timer: Models Allow Output for a Zero Set Value

Question

Which models allow output for a zero set value using the ON-delay timer?

Answer

The following Timers support output for a zero set value, provided that operating mode A is used.

Timer: Sensor Output

Question

Why was the Sensor output damaged when the Timer power was turned ON/OFF?

Answer

When the power was applied, the inrush current from the Timer may have damaged the Sensor output.

Countermeasure:

Use the MY Relay or other relay to turn the Timer power supply ON/OFF. (Make sure that the contact capacity is sufficient.)

Timer: Set to Zero for Checking Sequence Operations

Question

What method is used to set the H3CR-F8 Twin Timer to zero for checking sequence operations?

Answer

Set either the ON time or the OFF time to zero.

(Chattering will occur if both the ON time and OFF time are set to zero.)

The operations when using the zero settings are as follows:

Timer: Not Operating When an Input is Sent

Question

Why does the H5CR, H8CA-S, H5CX (except the H5CX-A11/-A11S), and H3CA not operate even when an input is sent?

Answer

The AC power supply may have taken unwanted current paths, causing damage to the internal parts.

Example:

The H5CR uses a transformerless power supply.

Do not simultaneously input two or more power supplies from a single input contact or transistor to separate Timers (or Counters).

Timer: Turning Output ON/OFF for the Whole Year

Question

What is the method for turning the output ON and OFF at specific times for the whole year?

Answer

Use the H5S's cyclic operation function.

1. Press the Cycle/Pulse Key.

2. Select all the days of the week (Sunday to Saturday).

3. Set the cycle to start at AM 0:00.

4. Set the cycle to stop at PM 11:59.

5. Set the ON time length.

6. Set the OFF time length.

For the above settings, the output must be OFF for one minute starting at 11:59.

Starting and stopping from different times is also possible.

However, the ON time length and OFF time length combined must be divisible by 24 hours.

Timer: Self Reset

Question

What is "Self-reset"?

Answer

The Self-reset means that the Timer is reset automatically by interrupting the voltage being supplied to the operating circuit.

Timer: Full-scale/Actual Time-out Value Different

Question

Why is the Analog Timer's full-scale value and actual timed-out value different?

Answer

The Time Range Selector and Time Unit Selector may not be set to the correct positions.

Countermeasure:

Check the scale and selector positions.

Timer: Set ON Time and OFF Time Separately

Question

Is there an ON/OFF repeat timer that lets you set the ON time and OFF time separately?

Answer

Use a Twin Timer, such as the H3CR-F, H5CX, or H3DE-F. The H5CX Digital Timer, in particular, lets you set the ON and OFF times without any setting error.

Timer: Difference between Timer and Time Switch

Question

What is the difference between the Timer and the Time Switch?

Answer

The Timer controls the time from when the power is turned on or the input signal is supplied to when the operation starts. On the other hand, the Time Switch controls the time of day at which the operation starts with the power on.

Time-limit Contacts

Question

What are time-limit contacts?

Answer

Time-limit contacts operate according to a Timer's elapsed-time operation.

Note:The operation depends on the Timer model and operating mode. Check the timing chart (operating mode) for details.

Reference: Timing chart for Mode A of the H3CR-A8E Solid-state Multi-functional Timer:

Timer: Replacement Product for ATSS

Question

What kind of Timers do you have that can be used as a replacement product for ATSS Pneumatic Timer with Power ON Delay?

Answer

The recommended replacement models are H3CR-series Analog Timers. ATSS Series has models with a power ON delay operation and models with a power OFF delay operation. The replacement product depends on which model of ATSS was used.

Example: Replacing ATSS AC100 10S ON

The specifications are a power supply voltage of 100 VAC with a 10 s power ON delay, so the replacement product should be the 100 to 240-VAC or 100 to 125-VDC H3CR-A8E.

Note:The terminal arrangement remains unchanged, but the shape of the Timer is different. To mount Timers firmly into Sockets, the entire Sockets must be replaced (P2CF-08 Sockets).

Timer: Delayed Operation Time-limit Resetting Circuit

Question

Could you show me a delayed operation time-limit resetting circuit using Timers and Relays?

Answer

Timer: Substitute Product for ATSS OFF-Delay Timer

Question

Which timer can be used as a substitute product for ATSS Pneumatic OFF-delay Timers?

Answer

H3CR Solid-state Timers.

ATSS Timers have either power ON-delay or power OFF-delay operation. The substitute products depends on which type of ATSS were used.

Example: Replacing ATSS 24VDC 10S OFF

ATSS Timers operate with a supply voltage of 24 VDC and a power OFF-delay of 10 seconds. A substitute product for this timer is H3CR-H8L 24 VAC/VDC S.

H3CR-H8L does not have instantaneous contacts. If instantaneous contacts are required, a relay must be connected externally. The "S" after the voltage indicates a time range of 0.05 s to 12 s.

H3CR-H8L

*These dimensions vary with the kind of DIN track (reference value).

Note:The terminal arrangement is the same, but the outputs are both subject to limit resetting.

Timer: 0.5-second One-shot Output

Question

Can H3CR-A Analog Timers produce a 0.5-second one-shot output when the power is turned ON?

Answer

Yes, it can.

Leave the start input ON. Connect terminals 2 and 6 (10 and 6 for AP models). Set the operation mode to mode E (Interval Mode). Set the time unit to seconds (SEC) and set the time range selector to 1.2.

Reference Information:

Fully turn the dial to 0 for a momentary output of 20 to 30 ms.

Repetitive Operation Circuit using two Timers

Question

Could you show me a repetitive-operation circuit using two Timers?

Answer

Timer: Apply Power Continuously

Question

Is it possible for a Timer to continuously apply power?

Answer

Yes it is, but do not leave the Timer in a time-expired condition for long periods of time (e.g., a month or longer) under high-temperature conditions.

Doing so may reduce the life of the Timer due to deterioration of internal parts, such as electrolytic capacitors.

If the Timer is to be left in a timed-out status for extended periods of tie, use together with Relays in the following type of circuit.

(Written using JIS notation)

Alternative Model for H3BA Timer

Question

What is an alternative model for the H3BA Multi-functional Timer?

Answer

1.It depends on the H3BA model. Refer to the following table.

Note:The bottom row gives recommended alternative models or models with alternative functions. For details, see the following information.

2.The alternative model in column (1) is the H3CR-A. Because the length of the body is about 12 mm shorter than that of the H3BA, the Y92H-7 Hold-down Clips should be used instead of the Y92H-1 Hold-down Clips when using the PL11 Socket.

3.There is no alternative in column (2) because the H3CR-A has no top-wired terminal. However, an alternative timer function can be achieved by using the H3CR-A and the P2CF-11 Front Connecting Socket, and wiring to the Front Connecting Socket. If a top-wired terminal is required, see whether the H3DE-M/S Solid-state Timer or H2C-F Motor Timer can be used.

4.The alternative model in column (3) is the H3CR-A8. Because the length of the body is about 12 mm shorter than that of the H3BA-8H, the Y92H-8 Hold-down Clips should be used instead of the Y92H-2 Hold-down Clips when using the PF085A Socket and the Y92H-7 Hold-down Clips should be used instead of the Y92H-1 Hold-down Clips when using the PL08 Socket.

5.The alternative model in column (4) is the H3CR-A8E. The Hold-down Clips to be used are the same as those described for the H3BA-8 in column (3).

6.The alternative model in column (4) is the H3CR-A8E. The Hold-down Clips to be used are the same as those described for the H3BA-8 in column (3).

Note:

1.The H3CR-A has no model that is equivalent to the top-wired terminal model of the H3BA-FA.

2.The length of the square body part of the H3CR-A is 52.3 mm (short body), which is approximately 12 mm shorter than the 63.7-mm (long body) length of the H3BA surface mounting/flush mounting type. Because of this, when using Hold-down Clips with an alternative model, the Hold-down Clips must be changed for models with a shorter body. The H3CR Series also has a long-body model, which is distinguished from the short-body model by adding the letter "L" to the model number.

Substitute Product for H3BG Star-delta Timers

Question

What is a substitute product for H3BG Star-delta Timers?

Answer

1.It depends on H3BG model. Refer to the following table.

Note:

1.H3BG-8-30 and H3BG-8H-31 have special external connections, e.g., for power supplies. The external connections are the same as H3CR-G8L-30 Solid-state Timers and H3CR-G8EL-31.

2.The bottom row gives recommended substitute products or models with substitute functions. For details, refer to the following information.

2.The substitute product in column (1) is H3CR-G8L. For H3BG-8-30 with a special terminal arrangement, the substitute product is H3CR-G8L-30. This means that previously UL-certified timers will no longer satisfy the safety standard. The terminal wiring will have to be changed, but it is recommended that H3BG-8-30 is replaced with H3CR-G8L with a standard terminal arrangement.

3.The substitute product in column (2) is H3CR-G8EL. For H3BG-8H-31 with a special terminal arrangement, the substitute product is H3CR-G8EL-31. This means that previously UL-certified timers will no longer satisfy the safety standard. The terminal wiring will have to be changed, but it is recommended that H3BG-8H-31 is replaced with H3CR-G8EL with a standard terminal arrangement.

4.There is no substitute in column (3) because H3CR-G has no top screw terminals. However, a substitute timer function can be achieved by using H3CR-G8L and P2CF-08 Front Connecting Sockets, and wiring to the Front Connecting Sockets. If a top screw terminal is required, see whether H3DE-G Solid-state Timer can be used.

5.There is no substitute in column (4) because the H3CR-G has no top screw terminals. However, a substitute timer function can be achieved by using H3CR-G8EL and P2CF-08 Front Connecting Sockets, and wiring to the Front Connecting Sockets. Even if a top screw terminal is required, H3DE-G cannot be used because it doesn't have instantaneous contacts.

6.General Comparison of H3BG and H3CR-G

Note:

1.The star-delta transfer time is the same.
2.The length of the square body part is the same.

Substitute Products for SYS Motor Timers

Question

What is substitute products for SYS Motor Timers?

Answer

1.It depends on SYS model. Refer to the following table.

Note:

1.The SPDT' time-limit contacts output after a time lag of 3% FS max. for SYS-3, SYS-C-3, and SYS-F-3.

2.SYS-T-P, SYS-C-T-P, SYS-T-P-2, and SYS-C-T-P-2 are connected by metal connectors

3.SYS-T-P3 and SYS-C-T-P3 are connected by 8-pin molded connectors.

4.The bottom row gives recommended substitute products or models with substitute functions. For details, refer to the following information.

2.The substitute product in column (1) is H3AM-NS Analog Timers. The power supply is a 100 to 240 VAC, 50/60 Hz common supply. H3AM model come in three time ranges and can be selected from the A, B, or C series. The terminal arrangements for external connection are not compatible.

If SYS or SYS-3 uses a combination of time-limit contacts and instantaneous contacts that exceeds the output of a DPDT contacts, additional contacts must be externally installed for H3AM because the output of a DPDT is the maximum limit for H3AM.

If SYS-3 has time-lag output, a time-lag circuit must be externally installed for H3AM because H3AM does not have a time-lag output function.

If SYS-T-P uses a connector, external wires must be connected to the terminal of H3AM because H3AM does not use connectors.

If SYS-F is a surface mounting model, there is no recommended substitute product because there are no surface mounting H3AM models. See whether a flush mounting model can be used.

3.The substitute product in column (2) is H3AM-NSR with electric reset. The motor and clutch are separately connected. The power supply is a 100 to 240 VAC, 50/60 Hz common supply. H3AM comes in three time ranges and can be selected from the A, B, or C series. The terminal arrangements for external connection are not compatible.

If SYS model has the suffix "-2" such as SYS-2, an inverted signal must be created externally to the timer because H3AM-NSR reset input which equates to SYS clutch input is inverted.

If SYS-T-P-2 or another model with a connector was used, H3AM will require the terminals to be externally wired because they do not use connectors.

If SYS-F-2 or another surface mounting model was used, there is no recommended substitute product because there are no surface mounting H3AM models. See whether a flush mounting model can be used.

4.There is no substitute product in column (3) because there are no H3AM models with repetitive operation. However, by treating H5BR or H5CX digital output of 0.5 s as a one-shot output, SYS-RP self-reset model as mode B, and SYS-R-RP electric reset model as mode B-1, a repetitive operation can be replicated. See whether this is suitable for your application because the size and mounting method are completely different.

5.There is no substitute product in column (4) because there are no H3AM models with instantaneous operation or time-limit resetting. However, by setting the output mode of H3CR-A8 Solid-state Timer to mode E (i.e., interval operation), the instantaneous operation and time-limit resetting functions can be replicated. However the operation of the timer will no longer be backed up for power blackouts.

See whether this setup is suitable for your application because the size and mounting method are completely different.

Substitute Product for H3BH-8 Power OFF-delay Timer

Question

What is a substitute product for H3BH-8 Power OFF-delay Timers?

Answer

1.It depends on H3BH model. Refer to the following table.

Note:The bottom row gives recommended substitute products or models with substitute functions. For details, refer to the following information.

2.The substitute product in column (1) is H3CR-H8L OFF-delay Timers.

3.The substitute product in column (2) is H3CR-H8RL OFF-delay Timers.

4.General Comparison of H3BH and H3CR-H

Note:
1.The time unit s (seconds) or m (minutes) must be selected and cannot be changed.
2.The length of the square body part is the same.

Substitute Product for H3BF-8 Twin Timer

Question

What is a substitute product for H3BF-8 Twin Timers?

Answer

1.When using a set time range that is shorter than 30 hours, the substitute product is H3CR-F8 Solid-state Timer. If the set time range is 30 hours or longer, the substitute product is H3CR-F8-300. Because the length of the body is approximately 12 mm shorter than that of H3BF-8, Y92H-8 Hold-down Clips should be used instead of Y92H-2 when using PF085A Sockets, and Y92H-7 Hold-down Clips should be used instead of Y92H-1 Hold-down Clips when using PL08 Sockets.

2.General Comparison of H3BF and H3CR-F

H3CR-A8EL Solid-state Timer

Question

What is a substitute product for H3CR-A8EL Solid-state Timers?

Answer

The substitute productis H3CR-A8E. Because the length of the body is approximately 12 mm shorter than that of H3CR-A8EL, Y92H-8 Hold-down Clips should be used instead of Y92H-2 when using PF085A Sockets, and Y92H-7 Hold-down Clips should be used instead of Y92H-1 Hold-down Clips when using PL08 Sockets.

The power supply voltage specifications will be 100 to 240 VAC/100 to 125 VDC instead of 100 to 240 VAC.

Substitute Product for H3A Micro Timer

Question

What is a substitute product for H3A Micro Timers?

Answer

1.It depends on H3A model. Refer to the following table.

Note:
1.A surface mounting H3A model can be flush mounted by attaching Y92F-40 Flush Mounting Adaptor.
2.The bottom row gives recommended substitute products or models with substitute functions. For details, see the following information.

2.The substitute product in column (1) is H3CR-A8 Solid-state Timers. It is recommended that the socket is changed to P2CF-08 Sockets for a surface mounting H3A. If you continue to use PF085 Sockets, it must be used with Y92H-8 Hold-down Clips, and PL08 with Y92H-7 Hold-down Clips.

3.The substitute product in column (2) is H3CR-A8 Solid-state Timers. The size of the panel cutout must be changed from 43.5 x 50.5 to 45 x 55 and Y92F-74 Flush Mounting Adaptors must be used.

4.The substitute product in column (3) is H3CR-A8 Solid-state Timers.
The size of the panel cutout does not need to be changed but Y92F-74 Flush Mounting Adaptors is required.

5.General Comparison of H3A and H3CR-A8

Substitute Product for STP Motor Timers

Question

What is a substitute product for STP Motor Timers?

Answer

1.It depends on STP model. Refer to the following table.

Note:For details of the recommended substitute products or models with substitute functions, refer to the following information.

2.The substitute product in column (1) is H3CR-A8E Solid-state Timers because digital Timers have higher integrated performance than motor Timers when there are no moving pointers. It is recommended that the socket is changed to P2CF-08 Sockets for a surface mounting timer. If you continue to use 8PFA Sockets, it must be used with Y92F-42 Adaptors, and PL08 Sockets with Y92H-7 Hold-down Clips. When using a flush mounting model, Y92F-73 Flush Mounting Adaptors are required because H3CR is smaller than STP. For Timers with SPST-NO instantaneous contacts, the power supply terminal 2 and instantaneous contact terminal 1 must be externally shorted for H3CR-A8E because they are internally shorted in STP. Otherwise, no additional wiring or wiring changes are required.

3.The substitute product in column (2) is H2C-8 Motor Timers with moving pointer because only Motor Timers can replicate the moving pointer function.
It is recommended that the sockets are changed to P2CF-08 for surface mounting Timers. If you continue to use 8PFA Sockets, they must be used with Y92F-42 Adaptors, and PL08 Sockets with Y92H-1 Hold-down Clips.
When using a flush mounting model, Y92F-70 Flush Mounting Adaptors are required because H2C is smaller than STP.For Timers with SPST-NO' instantaneous contacts, the power supply terminal 2 and instantaneous contact terminal 1 must be externally shorted for H2C-8 because they are internally shorted in STP.
Otherwise, no additional wiring or wiring changes are required.

4.The substitute product in column (3) is H2C-F Motor Timers with top screw terminals because Timers with socket wiring do not have a function for separate motor and clutch connection.
STP socket wiring and H2C-F top wiring are irrelevant and so a large change in wiring is required.
The mounting method also must change from STP sockets to DIN track or screw mounting.

5.The substitute product in column (4) is the electrically reset H2C-8R Motor Timers.
It is recommended that the socket is changed to P2CF-08 for a surface mounting timer. If you continue to use 8PFA Sockets, it must be used with sY92F-42 Adaptors, and sPL08 Sockets with Y92H-1 Hold-down Clips.
When using a flush mounting model, Y92F-70 Flush Mounting Adaptors are required because H2C is smaller than STP.

Substitute Product for H2E Motor Time Switches

Question

What is a substitute product for H2E Motor Timer Switches?

Answer

1.It depends on H2E model. Refer to the following table.

Note:For details of the recommended substitute products or models with substitute functions, refer to the following information.

2.The substitute product in column (1) is the surface mounting H2F-DF Motor Time Switches with SPST-NO contact output. The substitute product is less reliable with microload operation because the 250 VAC 1 A resistive load of H2E-C contact changes to the 250 VAC 15 A resistive load of H2F-DF.
The substitute product for H2E-P with power supply plug requires wiring to a power supply plug and a load electric outlet because H2F-DF does not have these items.

3.The substitute product in column (2) is the surface mounting H2F-DFC with SPDT contact output.
H2F-DFC requires load power supply to be wired to the SPDT contact because H2E-D SPDT' contact common terminal is internally connected to one side of the power supply.

4.There is no substitute product in column (3).
The function of H2F can be replicated by using two H2F-DF, or H5L or H5S Digital Time Switch that uses two circuits.

5.The substitute product in column (4) is the surface mounting H2F-DMF with power interruption backup.
The substitute product for H2E-MP with power supply plug requires wiring to a power supply plug and a load electric outlet because H2F-DMF does not have these items.
The power interruption backup time drops from 200 h to 180 h.

6.The substitute product in column (5) is the flush mounting H2F-D with SPST-NO contact output.
The substitute product is less reliable with microload operation because the 250 VAC 1 A resistive load of H2E-YC contact changes to the 250 VAC 15 A resistive load of H2F-D.

7.The substitute product in column (6) is the flush mounting H2F-DC with SPDT contact output.
H2F-DC requires load power supply to be wired to the SPDT contact because H2E-YD SPDT' contact common terminal is internally connected to one side of the power supply.

8.There is no substitute product in column (7) because H2F does not have a two circuit model.
The function of H2F can be replicated by using two H2F-D, or H5L or H5S that uses two circuits.

9.The substitute product in column (8) is the flush mounting H2F-DM with power interruption backup.
The power interruption backup time drops from 200 h to 180 h.

ATS Pneumatic Timer

Question

What is a substitute product for ATS Pneumatic Timers?

Answer

1.It depends on ATS model. Refer to the following table.

Note:
1.The ON-delay and OFF-delay operation of ATS could be specified by the orientation of the magnet section. Therefore there is no difference between the models with regards to the operating mode. When the moving part of the magnet section was at the bottom, it specified ON-delay operation, and when it was at the top, it specified OFF-delay operation.
2.he bottom row gives recommended substitute products or models with substitute functions. For details, refer to the following information.

2.There is no substitute product in column (1) because ATS utilizes the flow characteristics of air, which significantly differs in principle and construction with the current mainstream digital timers.
However, a substitute function can be created by using H3CR-A8 Solid-state Timer with P2CF-8 Surface Mounting Sockets

3.There is no substitute product in column (2).However, a substitute function can be created by using H3CR-A8E with instantaneous contacts with P2CF-8.

4.There is no substitute product in column (3).
However, a substitute function can be created by using H3CR-H8L OFF-delay Timers with P2CF-8.

5.There is no substitute product in column (4).However, a substitute function can be created by using H3CR-H8L with P2CF-8, and creating an instantaneous contact with an external relay.

6.General Comparison of ATS and H3CR-A/H

Note:
1.There are no H3CR-A8, -H8 models that operate at 440 VAC. The voltage must be stepped down.
2.If using the M-series H3CR-H8L, secure at least a 2-s power ON time. Do not use the H3CR-H8L Timer with a repeat period of less than 3 s.
3.The electrical durability of the time-limit and instantaneous contacts drop when large loads are used. Install an external replay as required.

Substitute Product for TDS Solid-state Timer

Question

What is a substitute product for TDS Solid-state Timers?

Answer

1.It depends on TDS model. Refer to the following table.

Note: 1.Y92F-50 Flush Mounting Adaptors can be attached to a surface mounting TDS for flush mounting.
2.The bottom row gives recommended substitute products or models with substitute functions. For details, refer to the following information.

2.The substitute product in column (1) is H3CR-A8E Solid-state Timers with instantaneous contacts. The substitute product has 8 pins like TDS but the wiring is not compatible. Therefore new wiring is required. It is recommended that the socket is changed to P2CF-08 Surface Mounting Sockets. If you continue to use 8PF(A) Sockets, they must be used with Y92F-42 Adaptors, PF085 Sockets with Y92H-8 Hold-down Clips, and PL08 Sockets with Y92H-7 Hold-down Clips.
The operating mode of H3CR-A8E must be ON-delay in mode A.

3.The substitute product in column (2) is H3CR-A Solid-state Timers.
The substitute product must be used with 11-pin P2CF-11 Surface Mounting Sockets, and new wiring is required.
The external input of TDS-A is equivalent to the start input of H3CR-A, but the signal conditions are reversed. Therefore the signal must be externally created and input as the start input to H3CR-A.
The operating mode of H3CR-A must be ON-delay in mode A.

4.The substitute product in column (3) is H3CR-A.
The substitute product must be used with P2CF-11, and new wiring is required.
The external input of TDS-B is equivalent to the start input of H3CR-A, but the signal conditions are reversed. Therefore the signal must be externally created and input as the start input to H3CR-A.
The operating mode of H3CR-A must be interval operation in mode E.

Substitute Product for MM2T Delay Relay

Question

What is a substitute product for MM2T Delay Relays?

Answer

1.It depends on MM2T model. Refer to the following table.

Note:The bottom row gives recommended substitute products or models with substitute functions. For details, see the following information.

2.There is no substitute product in column (1) because MM2T utilize the fluid characteristics of oil, which significantly differs in principle and construction with the current mainstream digital timers.
However, a substitute function can be created by using H3YN-2 Solid-state timers with relays such as MM2.
From the contact specifications, it is recommended that MM2 is used as the substitute product for MM2T, MM2B for MM2TB, and MM2P for MM2TP.
If the actual operating conditions satisfy H3YN-2 timers contact specifications, relays such as MM2 are not required. In this situation, H3CR-A8 Solid-state timers could be used. If 8PFA sockets are used as the sockets for MM2TP, Y92F-42 Adaptors can be used instead of H3CR-A8 Sockets, and no wiring will need to be changed.

3.There is no substitute product in column (2).
However, a substitute function can be created by using H3YN-2 with relays such as MM2X.
H3YN-2 must be used in ON-delay operation mode, and mounted using PYF08A Surface Mounting Sockets.
From the contact specifications, it is recommended that MM2X is used as the substitute product for MM2XT, MM2XB for MM2XTB, and MM2XP for MM2XTP.

Substitute Product for MKF-P Flicker Relay

Question

What is a substitute product for MKF-P Flicker Relays?

Answer

1.H3CR-A Solid-sate Timers. 8-pin H3CR-A8 cannot be used because they do not support a flicker OFF start, which is the operating mode of MKF-P.
Therefore 11-pin P2CF-11 Surface Mounting Sockets are required, as well as new wiring. Interconnect terminals 2 and 6. Use a power-ON start in mode B, with a flicker OFF start.

2.By setting equivalent ON and OFF times for H3CR-F8 Twin Timers with flicker OFF start, the functionality can be replicated. It is recommended that the socket is changed to P2CF-08. If you continue to use 8PF(A) Sockets, they must be used with Y92F-42 Adaptors.
The terminal arrangements of external connectors are not compatible.

Timer: AC 2-Wire Proximity Sensors

Question

Why can't AC 2-Wire Proximity Sensors switch the Timers power supply?

Answer
Probable Cause 1

Some Timers have half-wave rectifiers built into their power supply circuits. In this case, only half of the AC voltage will be supplied to Sensors and Sensors will not operate. Therefore it cannot be used to operate Timers.

Countermeasure
Instead of using Proximity Sensors, use Relays such as MY2N-CR General Purpose Relays to switch Timers power supply. (Pay careful attention to the contact capacity.)

Probable Cause 2

The Sensors output may have been damaged due to Timers inrush current when the power was turned ON.

Countermeasure
Instead of using Proximity Sensors, use Relays such as MY2N-CR to switch Timers power supply. (Pay careful attention to the contact capacity.)

Timer: F-1 Mode for H5CX-B

Question

How does the F-1 mode work for H5CX-B Digital Timers (2-stage time with forecast output)?

Answer
Probable Cause 1

F-1 mode: Cumulative (Timers don't reset when power comes ON.)

Timing functions only when there is a start signal input. It stops when the power is OFF, and continues after timing out until there is a reset input.
